Very pleasant stay!

54321

I am so happy with my choice to stay at Apple Tree Inn. Simon and Robyn were gracious hosts. Every morning started with a delicious English breakfast (where we could choose what we wanted) in their beautiful courtyard garden. The room was very comfortable and they even provided robes! The location was perfect - within walking distance to the Mall, good restaurants, and 2 different Metro stations. I would definitely recommend the Apple Tree Inn to anybody visiting Washington DC. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality, Simon and Robyn! :)

Delicious food and great hospitality

54321

Genuinely lovely hosts. We felt absolutely welcome. The house is beautiful, extremely comfortable and in a great location for exploring Washington. The breakfast was the best part -so much better than a standard hotel breakfast. Every morning the food was utterly delicious and imaginative. We'll come again.

Hospitality made great again!

54321

Spacious historical house. Feels like coming home! Good breakfast, fantastic location and clean & good beds. You get an extra room to relax and a newspaper in the morning! Short walk to capitol hill, privacy is well-respected.

A Great Find in DC!

54321

This was a great find in DC. Beautiful row home right near the trendy 14th street corridor. Don't miss Ted's Bulletin for Breakfast. Clean, well appointed, classic DC row house. Share bath but that's not a problem for me and I would think for most B&B-ers. I liked the self check-in and self service nature. Most amazing was the price! I will stay there for sure when I come back to DC.

This house is American history

54321

We loved to stay here, it was wonderful , Don is a wonderful host, big big recommendation, the breakfast with the other guest was a very nice experience. Don is all prepared , to gave us very good suggestions for eating nearby the B&B, Feel History in this building.

05/5

Just like home!

54321

Beautifully designed and the hospitality was above and beyond! Don is a wonderful host, he sat we us each morning for breakfast. The Chefs Carl and Eric are excellent cooks and good company. I highly recommend this place. The bus is near by and a nice park across the street. Staying here was like being at home.

Beautiful historic with great personality

54321

Our stay here was magnificent. The house is gorgeous, maintaining its classic look throughout with antique furnishings. The only (very minor) downside to this was that the right side of the bed (in the Magnolia room) was very squeaky. But the room and house are beautiful, and so much better than staying at some boring cookie-cutter hotel. Don is a wonderful, gracious host and a fountain of historical information. Eric is an amazing cook and made extremely delicious breakfasts both mornings, which were lovely starts to the day sitting with Don and the other guests. Great location with many restaurants nearby. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again. Room Tip: Magnolia room was beautiful, private, and quiet.

Pleasure and attention!

54321

Robyn & Simon, exceedingly gracious host over four nights. Attention to our needs and great suggestions as to how to use local transport to get from one site to another. Fantastic breakfast. Great location to walk to be able to walk to things to see and walking distance to Union station. We loved your beautiful and spacious house, nicely presented. Nguyen & Terry

A real gem...I look forward to my next visit!

54321

I came here on business but hope to come back again with my husband to enjoy this beautiful B&B and explore the wonderful architecture in the area. The B&B is on a quiet residential street just a few blocks east of the Capitol, so a perfect location whether you're coming on business or on holiday. The house is just gorgeous, with high ceilings and tall windows and exquisitely furnished with antiques and artwork. Yet despite its grandeur it is not imposing or fussy, instead it feels very homey and comfortable. Nancy has lived there since 1974 and can answer any question you have about the neighborhood and getting around DC. My room on the second floor was actually a two-room suite with its own (gorgeous) bathroom outside in the hallway. There's only one other guest room, on the third floor, and I never saw or heard the other couple, so it felt as if I had the whole house to myself! Loved how quiet it was. Breakfast was delicious, and Nancy is an experienced and gracious host. I look forward to my next visit!

Wonderful experience in a fine accommodation!

54321

When visiting WDC on business, I usually stay in a hotel somewhere in the District or across the river. I could not find a hotel accommodation for under $350 even in hotels that I swore I would never stay in again. The Independence House B&B was a new experience for me in business travel. It was within walking distance of the Capitol, in a quiet and safe neighborhood with great restaurants. Mary Jo is an exceptional hostess and very respectful of your privacy. Frankly, I am usually lonely when I travel and it was a pleasure having someone to chat with in the evening after a day of running around. I highly recommend this B&B and plan to stay there again.

05/5

Location, Location, Location!

54321

You won't find a more historic location than Logan Circle and Chester Arthur B & B. Wonderfully preserved in the 1883 period with furnishings and architecture that enhance the comfortable accommodations, the surroundings transport you back to a bygone era. Hearty breakfast served up by Carl & Eric prepare you for the full days of exploration in our nation's capital. Choose your own mode of transportation as all are just outside your door and within walking distance. This neighborhood is full of restaurants as varied as the people you'll meet. For an added bonus read "The Constable's Tale", an early American who-done-it written by proprietor and gentleman, Don Smith; it'll transport you back in time and make you feel connected to our country's beginning.

Marvelous place for a reasonable price!

54321

I just finished my second week long stay in the spacious and bright Hingham room. Again, everything was lovely. Cardozo House is in a vibrant neighborhood close to lots of fabulous restaurants and nightlife. The Metro is a block and a half away and a half hour direct ride from Reagan National Airport. It's a gorgeously appointed old DC row house and felt like home during my stay.

05/5

Gorgeous!

54321

Just so you know, the actual hosts are not Steve, Tracy and Katch--those folks are the booking agents. The host residence is the home of a friendly, accomplished couple who built their amazing house some years ago. It is a beautiful work of solid architecture and soaring vision and attention to detail, with many inviting spaces. The guest bath and bed are nicely placed for privacy, although if you like, a resident cat may visit you. If you have time, you can enjoy the window seat in the mini-library, perusing one or another of the many volumes there. Wrap yourself in a cozy towel from the warmer in the bathroom. Conveniently located for quick access to public Washington, yet in a leafy, secluded neighborhood. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this spacious, gorgeously-appointed home and the owners' hospitality.

05/5

Really enjoyed. Will be back.

54321

The Cardozo House is an elegant retreat, and a great value for the business traveler like myself or for a DC tourist, looking for a great location.

Wonderful Stay with a Personal Touch in the End

54321

Ideally located to explore all to do and see around the Washington Mall, we had a wonderful stay with Simon and Robyn at their Apple Tree Guest House, and Simon's breakfasts were top notch. We had a bit of a glitch in getting a taxi to take us and our luggage to the Union Train Station in time (which is easily walkable if you don't have a bunch of luggage to drag along). Simon immediately offered to take us with his car. Well it did save us the taxi fee, but much more importantly, it saved us our onward journey south on the Amtrak. THANKS Simon! and God bless to you and Robyn and your lovely Apple Tree Guest House

I love this house

Really enjoyed staying here.

54321

Really enjoyed staying here. The home is very comfortable with very nice furnishings and decor. All needed instructions were very clear and Larry was always helpful with advice and services. Everything was above expectations and very pleasant. Would definitely stay there again.

05/5

Thank you!

54321

Thank you very much for your hospitality. Even though we did not meet, it felt very much like you were there, looking after us.The room was very comfortable and pleasant, the breakfasts easy and plentiful, and your afternoon refreshments a pleasant surprise.Thank you again for your attention to so many little details that added up to a big success and an enjoyable trip.

05/5

Amply satisfies.

54321

Washington has great architecture, and I enjoy staying in its elegant buildings if I can, rather than in a larger hotel. This building, a beautiful old townhouse appointed with antique furniture, amply satisfies that. It's in a nice area too.

05/5

Great Place to Stay

54321

This is a most comfortable and charming place to stay. It is such a great place to unwind after a busy day in DC!

05/5

Great location, great place, great host.

Wonderful time!

54321

Our stay at Gessford Ct. was fantastic. The host was very hospitable and friendly. Breakfast food and company was good. The accommodations were excellent and the location was the best! We definitely would stay again and will recommend this B&B to our friends.

Enjoyable Stay

54321

We spent 3 nights mid-April during the Cherry Blossom Festival at 1921 Gessford. Our hosts were extremely gracious and David makes a wonderful breakfast. The property is decorated in the most interesting array of artwork, yet remains warm and inviting. Being music lovers, they have installed an amazing sound system as well. We found the home to be very comfortable. Parking on the street was not plentiful, but we were always able to find a spot within the block. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend a stay here if you are planning a visit to DC.

05/5

Wonderful weekend

54321

Spent the first weekend of March at 1921 Gessford since it was in the same neighborhood that our daughter lives in. The property was very comfortable and homey and the host extremely accommodating and gracious. They also were very informative about things happening in the area and made our whole weekend very enjoyable.

54321

This is a charming house nestled in a great DC neighborhood. It is surrounded by restaurants, just a quick walk to the train and a number of interesting attractions. Breakfasts were delicious and the innkeeper an excellent hostess.

05/5

54321

This was a wonderful place to stay. It was very nice and like staying at friend's house or grandpa's. Carl made lovely breakfast. He was great company. Don had fun and adventurous stories to tell. This is a great location with grocery close by. Easy bus/metro access to great museums at the Mall. We highly recommend this place.

05/5

Very clean, very nice!

54321

Very clean, very nice, had a great time staying there. Felt very safe and comfortable. Excellent location. Close to lots of great restaurants and a quick trip on the metro to get to downtown. Would highly recommend to other travelers.

05/5

Perfect

54321

My stay here was in one word; perfect! The room and accompanying bathroom was excellent, the location in a very nice neighborhood and within walking distance of the Capitol was superb and last but not least, Barbara was the nicest host you will ever meet.

05/5

CLEAN and Wonderful!

54321

We had a wonderful time at the Cardozo guest house! It's very clean and comfortable and in a great part of town. This was our second visit and we would love to come again.

Great Accommodations and Fantastic Host!

54321

Recently stayed at Brumidi for a quick two night, three day work trip to Capitol Hill. The accommodations were spacious, comfortable and very well kept. The Host was very flexible, warm and attentive to my needs. Breakfast both mornings was delicious. After checking out, I needed to store my luggage, for a few hours - which the Host was more than willing to allow. I highly recommend Brumidi. This is the first time I have stayed at a B&B in DC. I would do it again in a heart beat.

05/5

Excellent and close to the Matro!

54321

I reserved this room last minute for my family who was vacationing and they adored the entire experience. They told me the house was perfectly located , close to the metro station . They loved the house and was able to socialize with the other occupants who were also very friendly.

05/5

54321

Barbara Marks could not possibly be a more amenable host, and her accommodations, a large, airy, pleasant bedroom and private bath, are both attractive and immaculate. It is a five star place to stay.

54321

A very accommodating host in a lovely home in a safe, centrally located neighbourhood

05/5

Great!

54321

Great location, walk able to everything you'd want. Convenient if you US Capitol business meetings in this area. Very Spacious living quarters. Host was accommodating to my needs even though she was very busy. Would definitely stay here again!

05/5

Excellent!

54321

The process was quite easy. They provided instructions on how to enter (a little complex with multiple doors, but no problem). The house is a wonderful old structure with requisite squeaky floors in the hallway, transom windows above the doors, etc.—and an astonishing collection of African art in the living area. Quite stunning; we felt like we were in a museum of sorts. Unexpected and truly remarkable. Very clean and inviting. Our room was very large, so we could relax there and not feel crowded. Three bedrooms share a bathroom, which for the most part was not an issue—other than the fact that another guest left the bathroom door closed on a couple of occasions, so we weren't sure if someone was in there! Might be worth adding a little sign to let people know to keep the door open when not being used. The hosts were very accommodating, and very prompt in responding to our communications. They allowed us to store our bags in the front room after checkout time, so we could go to an appointment without having the schlep our luggage with us. Overall a very positive experience!

05/5

Awsome!

54321

Awesome location and historic type house in a quiet neighborhood! This house reminded me so much of the house I grew up in and it was very convenient for my work location and close to restaurants. I ended up working very late several nights in my room and the wireless and connectivity were great. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely go back.

Wonderful!

54321

I had a wonderful stay at the Apple Tree Bed and Breakfast. Beautiful home near Capitol Hill. Welcoming hosts--very kind and extraordinarily helpful. My room was comfortable and provided helpful extras for travelers. I could not have had a better experience and hope I get a chance to stay there again.

05/5

Stunning!

54321

Des Affiches was just as advertised. The residence was beautiful and stunning with top of the line finishes everywhere. It is an absolutely gorgeous home. The room was comfortable and clean. My wife and I visit family in Bethesda often and now we have found a new place to stay. Thank you to the hosts who were attentive and gracious.

05/5

Good Place

54321

I very like that house. The host is very kind and the house is very comfortable! It's really a good place to live!

A Pleaseure to Stay Here!

54321

The Cardozo (and more specifically the Pembrooke Room) was an absolute pleasure to stay in. In addition to it's beauty and attention to aesthetic comfort, it was well equipped for a traveler. Power outlets, ample storage space and a mini fridge with bottled water were all thoughtful conveniences. Would love to stay again if D.C. is my destination.

05/5

Awsome!

54321

My parents (in their mid 60's) just arrived back, and were extremely enthusiastic about their stay. The place is absolutely gorgeous (almost like a museum in itself), in a perfect location (they walked back and forth to the Mall and museums every day). The host was very hospitable, and thought about all the "little things" that made them feel like home (e.g. when they arrived, the lights were on, music was playing and there were fresh flowers...), and provided a great breakfast. They confirmed that it definitely is not a good place to go with kids as there is a lot of beautiful art everywhere. Museum buffs as they are, they have so far bragged more about this experience then about the Smithsonian!

“Washington Holiday”

54321

We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 days at Akwaaba in Washington. The bed and breakfast accommodation is of a very high standard and the 2 ladies who looked after us were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was of a very high standard and we also thought the happy hour food and nibbles at 5pm was a great addition. We would certainly use again as the location is excellent a 10-15 minute walk down the road is the White House. We would highly recommend this excellent establishment.

05/5

"An Oasis”

54321

I had been traveling alone for the past 6 days in the U.S. and missing the interaction with company at the end of the day. Additionally, although I had been paying top dollar for accommodation in Chicago and New York, the quality of the rooms left a little to be desired. That all changed at the Akwaaba. Bedrooms were beautifully appointed. The company of the other guests just enchanting. Hospitality of the innkeeper, beautiful. It's location is most convenient for the sightseer. I just wish the stay could have been longer.

05/5

“95th Birthday Celebration”

54321

A perfect place to stay in an inviting setting in the heart of one of of the most exciting and beautiful cities in the world. The guests included world travelers who melded for happy hour that lasted for hours. What a joy to have the best innkeeper and housekeeper in the Capitol of the United States!Merci beaucoup!

05/5

“Wonderful, centrally located B&B”

54321

Chester Arthur house was a charming oasis in the middle of DC. The owner was chatty without being intrusive, super accommodating and had great advice about the area. They are dedicated to preserving the house's original architecture. The breakfast was amazing and the chef made us a special to-go breakfast since we had to leave so early. I highly recommend Chester Arthur House.
