10th & Otis Place NW
The Otis Place Bed and Breakfast is located in the newly revived Columbia Heights Historic District, in the Northwest Washington DC area. Built in 1910, this Victorian townhouse was renovated in 2002/2003 yet features the original woodwork, hardwood floors, antique lighting fixtures, and working fireplaces.
Make yourself at home in the first floor living room, which includes a comfortable sofa and chairs, working fireplace, original artwork, and a large front bay window allowing a flood of natural light. Guests are welcome to relax, read, and enjoy the fireplace or make use of the screened-in porch at the rear of the house in the warmer seasons.
The dining room features a decorative fireplace and a beautiful antique chandelier under a round dining table. The gourmet kitchen features granite countertops and tin ceilings.
A self-catered continental breakfast (not prepared by owner) is available for guests to enjoy. Plenty of choices are offered; including coffee, tea and hot chocolate (Keurig on the counter), a variety of granola bars, cereals, cookies, pop-tarts and assorted breads and muffins. In the refrigerator, you will also find a variety of fruit (like apples, grapes, etc.), fruit cups, milk and eggs for cooking in the microwave.
Your host is an attorney specializing in mediation. He also serves as an adjunct professor teaching negotiation, mediation, and dispute resolution with the George Washington University School of Law and the Keller Graduate School. He is very active in the community and the District of Columbia government.
Located in the Upper Northwest neighborhood, our B&B is nestled among private residential homes and provides a relaxing retreat from downtown DC, but is still close to public transportation into DC for sightseeing and dining.
You have easy access to two metro stations within walking distance from the house, either the Georgia Avenue/Petworth station at a quarter of a mile away or the Columbia Heights station at half a mile. Both stations have the Green and Yellow lines, with direct rides to the Washington Convention Center, China Town, the National Mall and Smithsonian Museums.
