The Apple Tree Inn offers an exceptional location for you as you explore all Washington has to offer as well as a comfortable accommodation with modern conveniences. The Apple Tree Inn Queen room features a Queen-sized bed, LCD TV, private bath off of the hall, and includes a hot cooked breakfast each morning.
The 1884 renovated Victorian townhouse retains many of the best features of the 19th century, including pocket doors, 12 ft. ceilings, carved woodwork, crown moldings, and three working fireplaces. One particularly dramatic feature added with the renovations is a two-story atrium with a curved stairway to the rear courtyard with a beautiful garden and fountain.
Make yourself at home in the sunny first floor living room and library or enjoy some fresh air in the private courtyard.
Your hosts first moved to Washington in 1984, but have spent the better part of 17 years working in the Foreign Service. Simon was a certified public accountant with KPMG in Zambia, South Africa, Belgium, and Nigeria. He has recently transitioned to his second career, graduating from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in May of 2008. He paints oil on canvas from his studio located in the Carriage House behind the home. Guests will see some of his work displayed throughout the Inn.
Robyn retired after 30 years as a career diplomat enjoying assignments at the American Embassies in Europe, the Caribbean, and Africa, and was the Consul General in Lagos, Nigeria. Both of your hosts are fluent in French.
You might be greeted by the inn’s four-legged hosts, Teddy, a Spanish water dog, and Freddy, a smoky grey feline. They will not be allowed in your guest room but you will probably see them lounging in other areas of the inn. We unfortunately cannot accommodate guests’ pets.
Our Washington DC bed and breakfast is conveniently located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood where you can walk to DC’s most famed sites and monuments. Walk to the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, or U.S. Supreme Court or get a bite to eat at the Eastern Market.
You can catch the Metro’s Red line at Union Station or the Blue and Orange lines at the Eastern Market station, both within walking distance of our inn. At Union Station, you can also hop on the DC Circulator for only $1 or utilize Amtrak, VRE, and MARC trains. Capitol Hill is also biker-friendly and we have several Capital Bikeshare stations within walking distance of our property.
Our inn is also approximately six miles from Reagan National Airport.
