Couldn't Be Closer:
Of all the homes in the Bed and Breakfast Accommodations network, Celia’s Place offers the closest access to the National Mall, Smithsonian's and the Monuments. Located at 3rd and Independence Ave SE, the home is literally across the street from the Library of Congress. Visitors can walk there or to the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, Folger Shakespeare Library and Theatre, the National Gallery of Art, Botanic Gardens, Air and Space Museum and the new American Indian Museum. Additionally, the home is only three blocks from the city’s Metro system at the Capitol South Station. The Blue and Orange lines will take you quickly to the National Mall with the Holocaust Memorial, American and Natural History Museums, George Washington and Georgetown Universities and, just across the river, Arlington National Cemetery.
Come and have a delightful stay in this beautifully restored Victorian row house. Built in the 1850s, this private home dates as one of the earliest to mark the transition of the Capitol Hill neighborhood from rooming houses to permanent dwellings. The home offers just one guest suite with accommodations for up to two guests. The guest suite is on the second floor in the rear of the house. The bedroom is furnished with a full-size brass bed with premium linens. An attached private sitting room allows a quiet space for guests to relax. A private bath with a traditional tub and shower combination is located just outside the bedroom door. Your host's quarters are also on the second floor, but in the front of the house. The guest suite includes TV with cable and a private telephone line. A continental breakfast is served each morning.
Nearby Pennsylvania Avenue offers many restaurants and wonderful shopping. For necessities, there is a pharmacy, bank, and dry cleaner nearby as well as a convenience store. Please be aware that parking in Washington can be a challenge! Because of our convenient location, you will not need a car to access any of the Capitol's sights once here. If you arrive by car, you will need to find a legal space on the street (where ever you can) and then get a visitor's parking permit from your hostess to return and display in your car's window. Otherwise, on-street parking is only permitted by visitors on weekends from 4pm on Friday to 7am on Monday. For those who may be allergic, please note, there are 2 lovely cats who also call Celia's Place home
