Perfectly situated in the heart of Capitol Hill, the 8th Street Apartment offers visitors a safe neighborhood to enjoy all that Washington has to offer. Located at 8th and Independence Ave in the South East Capitol Hill district, this apartment offers easy walking distance to key destinations on the Hill such as the Library of Congress, U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court and Folger Shakespeare Library and Theatre. For destinations at a greater distance, Washington’s Metro is just two and a half blocks from the apartment, where you can catch the Blue and Orange lines at the Eastern Market station.
The Capitol Hill neighborhood is located just to the East of the United States Capitol building itself. It's one of Washington’s first neighborhoods; largely built before 1900. Many row houses were constructed here, at first used largely as boarding houses and then as private homes for the country’s legislators and other federal workers. Today, this neighborhood offers tree-lined streets, with lovely gardens in the front of almost every home. Guests who choose to stay here will find a safe neighborhood. Small, family owned restaurants can be found within a few blocks, and Eastern Market - Washington’s oldest continually operating market - is just steps away, where you can find fresh produce, meats, dairy and prepared foods to keep the kitchen stocked.
The Apartment provides about 650 square feet of living space. Entry is directly into the main room where there's a living area, dining area and small galley kitchen. The living area features an overstuffed sofa (which opens to a full-size bed, if needed), a reading chair and a TV with cable and VCR. This room also includes a small dining table. The kitchen is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, stove/oven combination, coffee maker and cooking and eating utensils for light meals.
The bedroom is furnished with a comfortable queen-size bed, two night stands and a bureau, and there is a large closet as well. The shower-only bath is conveniently situated off the bedroom.
As with all of the apartments in our system, all bed and bath linens are provided for your stay. Guests will find the apartment cleaned prior to their arrival. Daily housekeeping is not provided, though for travelers on an extended stay, arrangements can be made for weekly housekeeping, for an additional fee. Rental is on a daily (three night minimum), weekly or monthly basis. Visitors traveling to DC with a car will be surprised to find that this property can offer reserved, off street parking, $15/nt—the only property in our service on Capitol Hill that can do so.
