The Accommodations:
Comfort and convenience recommend the Bed and Breakfast on U Street. The home's Victorian architecture is evinced in the hardwood floors, beautifully carved wood trim, decorative fireplaces and exceptionally high ceilings. This B&B is just North of Dupont Circle proper, within easy walking access to countless restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, shopping, and nightclubs. There are four individually decorated guest rooms available. Two accommodations are on the second floor: both have queen-size beds and private baths, but one is a suite, with an adjoining sitting room (and sleeper sofa). The third floor has two additional guest rooms, both with queen beds: These two rooms share a hallway bath. All rooms have premium bed and bath linens. Further amenities include wireless Internet, color televisions with cable, and a continental plus breakfast.
Choice Neighborhood:
The home is conveniently located just North of Dupont Circle and in the U Street Corridor, so you'll have access to two of Washington’s most popular neighborhoods. Guests will find getting to the National Mall and Monuments as well as the Smithsonian Museums, and most anything else in the District is fast and easy from this B&B. The city’s Metro system is a short 7-10 minute walk to a choice of the Green or Red line. Further, major bus lines traveling to the White House and the K Street Business district stop less than two blocks from the front of the home. Business travelers will find it a snap to get to Washington’s new Convention Center, the Verizon Center, and the primary conference hotels: the Hilton Towers, Marriott Wardman Park and Omni Shoreham. All are a short metro ride or, in the case of the Hilton Towers, just an easy walk away.
Evenings, Dupont Circle offers a variety of 80+ restaurants, from simple bistros right up to fine dining. Nearby Connecticut Avenue is home to one of Washington’s best collections of shops, bookstores, movie theaters, nightclubs and, to top it off, the Improv Comedy Club as well.
Additional Details:
All guests are treated to a complimentary, expanded "continental plus" breakfast, featuring fresh pastries, bagels, and fruit to compliment a choice selection of coffees, teas and juices. There are two common rooms for guests' use on the first floor, perfect spots to catch up on reading or plan the day's sightseeing activities. There is a small, rear patio where guests can relax outdoors during Washington’s long spring and fall seasons. Smoking is not allowed inside the B&B, but guests may make use of the rear patio or small front porch. Wireless Internet is available here at no additional charge. If you will be arriving by car, this accommodation has very limited off street parking. Your space must be arranged in advance and carries an extra fee of $15/nt.
New! Garden level, Basement Suite:
This suite includes a small bedroom with queen bed, living room, private bath, pub style dining table, and small kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker). Guests enjoy a private entrance from the front of the house. Note, the front entrance is narrow with only a few stairs, however they are somewhat steep. Breakfast is not normally included with this suite, however if you would like to enjoy a continental style breakfast upstairs in the B&B, it can be arranged for $10 per person per night.
