My stay here was in one word; perfect! The room and accompanying bathroom was excellent, the location in a very nice neighborhood and within walking distance of the Capitol was superb and last but not least, Barbara was the nicest host you will ever meet.

CLEAN and Wonderful!

54321

We had a wonderful time at the Cardozo guest house! It's very clean and comfortable and in a great part of town. This was our second visit and we would love to come again.

Great Accommodations and Fantastic Host!

54321

Recently stayed at Brumidi for a quick two night, three day work trip to Capitol Hill. The accommodations were spacious, comfortable and very well kept. The Host was very flexible, warm and attentive to my needs. Breakfast both mornings was delicious. After checking out, I needed to store my luggage, for a few hours - which the Host was more than willing to allow. I highly recommend Brumidi. This is the first time I have stayed at a B&B in DC. I would do it again in a heart beat.

Excellent and close to the Matro!

54321

I reserved this room last minute for my family who was vacationing and they adored the entire experience. They told me the house was perfectly located , close to the metro station . They loved the house and was able to socialize with the other occupants who were also very friendly.

Barbara Marks could not possibly be a more amenable host, and her accommodations, a large, airy, pleasant bedroom and private bath, are both attractive and immaculate. It is a five star place to stay.

Weekend in DC

My husband and I spent 3 delightful nights at this B&B. We loved it and would absolutely return. Barbara is a charming hostess and made us feel right at home.

Excellent & Enjoyable

54321

A very enjoyable stay in a wonderful guest house. I could not have picked a better location for a week in Washington. Gary was an excellent host and everything ran very smoothly during my stay. Highly recommended.

A very accommodating host in a lovely home in a safe, centrally located neighbourhood

Great!

54321

Great location, walk able to everything you'd want. Convenient if you US Capitol business meetings in this area. Very Spacious living quarters. Host was accommodating to my needs even though she was very busy. Would definitely stay here again!

Excellent!

54321

The process was quite easy. They provided instructions on how to enter (a little complex with multiple doors, but no problem). The house is a wonderful old structure with requisite squeaky floors in the hallway, transom windows above the doors, etc.—and an astonishing collection of African art in the living area. Quite stunning; we felt like we were in a museum of sorts. Unexpected and truly remarkable. Very clean and inviting. Our room was very large, so we could relax there and not feel crowded. Three bedrooms share a bathroom, which for the most part was not an issue—other than the fact that another guest left the bathroom door closed on a couple of occasions, so we weren't sure if someone was in there! Might be worth adding a little sign to let people know to keep the door open when not being used. The hosts were very accommodating, and very prompt in responding to our communications. They allowed us to store our bags in the front room after checkout time, so we could go to an appointment without having the schlep our luggage with us. Overall a very positive experience!

Awsome!

54321

Awesome location and historic type house in a quiet neighborhood! This house reminded me so much of the house I grew up in and it was very convenient for my work location and close to restaurants. I ended up working very late several nights in my room and the wireless and connectivity were great. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely go back.

Mary Jo was a fabulous hostess!!! She was very hospitable, provide a delicious continental breakfast and was a wealth of information. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at her location. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Wonderful!

54321

I had a wonderful stay at the Apple Tree Bed and Breakfast. Beautiful home near Capitol Hill. Welcoming hosts--very kind and extraordinarily helpful. My room was comfortable and provided helpful extras for travelers. I could not have had a better experience and hope I get a chance to stay there again.

05/5

Stunning!

54321

Des Affiches was just as advertised. The residence was beautiful and stunning with top of the line finishes everywhere. It is an absolutely gorgeous home. The room was comfortable and clean. My wife and I visit family in Bethesda often and now we have found a new place to stay. Thank you to the hosts who were attentive and gracious.

Good Place

I very like that house. The host is very kind and the house is very comfortable! It's really a good place to live!

A Pleaseure to Stay Here!

54321

The Cardozo (and more specifically the Pembrooke Room) was an absolute pleasure to stay in. In addition to it's beauty and attention to aesthetic comfort, it was well equipped for a traveler. Power outlets, ample storage space and a mini fridge with bottled water were all thoughtful conveniences. Would love to stay again if D.C. is my destination.

05/5

Awsome!

54321

My parents (in their mid 60's) just arrived back, and were extremely enthusiastic about their stay. The place is absolutely gorgeous (almost like a museum in itself), in a perfect location (they walked back and forth to the Mall and museums every day). The host was very hospitable, and thought about all the "little things" that made them feel like home (e.g. when they arrived, the lights were on, music was playing and there were fresh flowers...), and provided a great breakfast. They confirmed that it definitely is not a good place to go with kids as there is a lot of beautiful art everywhere. Museum buffs as they are, they have so far bragged more about this experience then about the Smithsonian!

“Washington Holiday”

54321

We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 days at Akwaaba in Washington. The bed and breakfast accommodation is of a very high standard and the 2 ladies who looked after us were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was of a very high standard and we also thought the happy hour food and nibbles at 5pm was a great addition. We would certainly use again as the location is excellent a 10-15 minute walk down the road is the White House. We would highly recommend this excellent establishment.

05/5

"An Oasis”

54321

I had been traveling alone for the past 6 days in the U.S. and missing the interaction with company at the end of the day. Additionally, although I had been paying top dollar for accommodation in Chicago and New York, the quality of the rooms left a little to be desired. That all changed at the Akwaaba. Bedrooms were beautifully appointed. The company of the other guests just enchanting. Hospitality of the innkeeper, beautiful. It's location is most convenient for the sightseer. I just wish the stay could have been longer.

“95th Birthday Celebration”

54321

A perfect place to stay in an inviting setting in the heart of one of of the most exciting and beautiful cities in the world. The guests included world travelers who melded for happy hour that lasted for hours. What a joy to have the best innkeeper and housekeeper in the Capitol of the United States!Merci beaucoup!

“Wonderful, centrally located B&B”

54321

Chester Arthur house was a charming oasis in the middle of DC. The owner was chatty without being intrusive, super accommodating and had great advice about the area. They are dedicated to preserving the house's original architecture. The breakfast was amazing and the chef made us a special to-go breakfast since we had to leave so early. I highly recommend Chester Arthur House.

“Knowledgeable Host”

54321

Great breakfast conversation with other visitors and Don. Fascinating! Fabulous breakfast made with love. Very nice location handy for many restaurants and access to the National Mall. What more do you need. Felt safe as lone traveler.

“Great Location and Hospitality”

54321

My friend and I stayed for the weekend before we headed off to college and we couldn't ask for a better residence for our two nights there. A lovely historic home located less than a mile from the White House, it was great having the up-scale amenities and location for a relatively cheap price. We were able to walk most places on our own, and metro stops were right off Logan Circle when we needed to take longer treks. The host, Don, was very informative and easy to talk to. The homemade breakfasts were also the perfect way to start off our day and kept us energized throughout our explorations on the Mall. Would recommend to anyone and will look to say here next time I visit DC!

“A good stay was had at Brumidi B & B”

54321

A lovely air conditioned older home (1869) full of antiques, nice bedrooms and good breakfasts. We were not crazy about the tub in the bathroom but it did have a shower attachment and would not prevent us from staying there again. Good location, about 3- 4 blocks from the Capitol. Nancy, the proprietor, was very nice and welcoming. Would stay there again.

05/5

"Como en Casa"

54321

We were very comfortable, very quiet. Excellent breakfast. A bit oldish but so is the city. Also well located and close to the metro. Difficult to find...the building has no signs or anything. Very Recommendable!

05/5

"Fantastic!"

54321

Akwaaba was wonderful. The house is historic, room was great, and the energy of the home was splendid. The proprietors was kind, caring, and efficient. We made friends with the most wonderful couple from the UK during our stay. We had an early departure and the host prepared a to-go breakfast for us--the nicest touch. We highly recommend and will definitely stay again.

05/5

Stay Here!

54321

Very atmospheric, beautifully preserved Victorian house in a great location, and with excellent hospitality. Don is a fascinating host - could have listened to him for days. Large bedroom with everything we needed, and very helpful orientation to the area. Breakfasts were delicious, and made even better by the beautiful dining room. A pleasure to return in the evenings and find quiet ragtime playing in the sitting room. Will definitely stay here again if we return to DC.

05/5

What a privilege to stay here!

54321

I stayed for 4 nights at the house and was really comfortable. The location is good, but if you have any mobility problems, it would still be a bit of a walk to the nearest metro - though the bus stop is closer.I loved coming in through the front door to peace, quiet and gently playing Scott Joplin piano music, at the end of a busy day of city visits. Lots of previous visitors have commented on breakfast - it does indeed set you up for the day . I much enjoyed a variety of company around the breakfast table and Carl's hospitality and delicious food - sweet one day, savoury the next.Great restaurants in the area too so eating in the evening was no problem. A very up-market part of the city, so as a lone traveller I felt very safe.

05/5

"Great Historic B&B"

54321

We stayed for 3 nights - the place is very central to all 'touristy' needs; it contains beautiful antique furniture in line with the period of the place. If you like sleek modern places then this is not for you...but if you relish the opportunity to live in a character home with great history that is clean & serviceable at a competitive price...then this is where you will want to hang your hat! PS. Carl cooks the most outstanding, delicious breakfasts that will see you through until almost dinner time!! (And choice coffee too )

05/5

"Excellent séjour”

54321

We stayed two nights at the Chester Arthur House. The house is beautiful, it has remained as it was in the 18th century, with period furniture. All other houses of this type have been divided into apartments, because the maintenance of such a home costs a fortune! The guest host preserves this gem. We arrived quite late at night, and we were greeted with kindness by Eric. We slept in the room on the first floor overlooking the street, There are all the amenities one could desire, air conditioning (it gets very hot in July), the wifi (very important for our daughter 12 years for us much less), the breakfasts were excellent, and allowed to start the day. Carl Cook was with us at breakfast, gave us some tips (eg eating at Indian museum restaurant. Excellent). We met as Don, the owner, a fighter who was among other journalist at National Geographic; very interesting and nice. The house is very well located in Washington, There are buses that go directly to the national mall.Le area is lively with good restaurants. It there's a parking space for those who have a car, but to avoid in Washington. The value is unbeatable compared to a hotel room. I highly recommend this B & B

“A Stay to Remember”

54321

If ever we'll go back to Washington, we will consider to stay at Cardozo Guest House. Well-maintained with free refreshments in the fridge inside our room. The common bathroom was very clean although it's being shared by 3 rooms on the second floor. & The Pizza near the stations is recommended.

Felt Like Home!

54321

We had a wonderful stay at the Cardozo Guesthouse - it's a cosy place to stay in a nice neighborhood and inside it felt like home :) We were in the Duxbury room, which was spacious with a fridge containing bottled water. There are two other rooms on the level that you have to share a bathroom with but during our 2 nights no one was occupying those rooms so we basically had the bathroom to ourselves!!! Very clean bathroom and the house is well kept - the housekeeper was lovely.Very close walk to the U street station which has a direct line to be National Mall where all the museums and monuments are. Also walking distance to main road with bars/restaurants.

Great Location!

54321

Cardozo Guesthouse is a beautiful home - the rooms are nice. There is a Trader Joes on 14th street so you can get snacks or stuff for breakfast, milk for your coffee, etc. Just watch out for long lines towards closing. The neighborhood is good, especially if you stay 14th street toward the capitol. The street is very cute with the homes well tended and great little gardens in front of each of them. I've met the same housekeeper on two separate trips, she is a gem. There is a Keurig and a selection of coffee, sweeteners and powdered creamer. There is a small fridge. There is no breakfast, but the location is good (subway stop very close - about two blocks), the rooms are fine and the price is right!

A lovely place to stay - spacious with all you need including Netflix for our teenage kids. Easy to get to from Union station and all the sites - will book again when next back in Washington

Wonderful hospitality, great location, and just what we needed!

54321

My mom, daughter, niece and I stayed here last week, and what a wonderful stay it was. Don, the owner, was gracious, knowledgeable and a terrific host. Carl (I sure hope I remembered & spelled his name correctly!) the chef couldn't have been more fabulous if he tried. Everyday our breakfast was a feast and a true culinary treat. Normally when we stay in B&B's we rarely do more than just eat and leave, but Carl made us feel like family and along with another couple that was staying there, breakfast became a vital and memorable part of our 4 day stay. Our accommodation on the 3rd floor was just the right size - a very large bathroom and bedroom, plus a kitchenette made our stay very comfortable indeed.I can't recommend Chester Arthur House B&B enough! We can't wait to return!D. Duplessis

Brumidi B & B hospitality

54321

We stayed in the 2nd floor bedroom. It's an older, creaky, historic home that oozes charm. Winds up the 2nd floor is yours. (The 3rd floor suite is accessible by the main staircase, though). There are 2 bathrooms on this floor, one at each end of the hall (closest is right outside the bedroom door). The bedroom is separate from the sitting/TV room by a connecting door. The only 'downside' is there's no fridge or coffee maker in the sitting room (but there is room for both). Other than that, the 3rd floor 'suite' has a mini kitchen right outside their door - and that fridge has an ice maker ;-) Otherwise, you have to go downstairs and ask for ice from the main kitchen facility. Brumidi's location was ideal. Daily breakfast was HUGE and delicious! (I love bacon)! It was quiet, in an eclectic neighbourhood, within a 20 min brisk walk of Union station. We visited May 1-7, 2016

Comfortable place to stay in DC

43211

We recently stayed for the second time in the Pembroke room and really enjoyed our visit. We found it to be very quiet and comfortable. Even though the house was fully booked part of the time, we never had any problems sharing the bathroom. We were able to meet the owner at our last stay and enjoyed our visit with her. Our son and his family live about 2 blocks away so it is very convenient. We always feel safe walking, even after dark. We plan to stay here again whenever we are in DC.

04/5

Excellent Stay

54321

My wife and I selected the Apple Tree Inn mostly because of its proximity to Union Station and walking distance to the museums on the National Mall. What we got was a very comfortable stay with genuinely friendly hosts and their genuinely friendly pets. We could have stayed there longer and felt just as comfortable. Every element of our stay was attended to. Breakfast was excellent and served in a beautiful garden. We will make a bee line back there if we are in DC again.

54321

Wonderful location and Nancy could not have been nicer

05/5

Charming

54321

Recently Anthony Bourdain said he rarely uses the expression charming. I guess he reserves it for special places. That's what this B & B is. It's stunning and meets all the standards respect to comfort and cleanliness. Our stay was dream-filled and we can't say enough good things about our hosts and their loving cats especially Lorenzo.

A wonderful hidden gem in the heart of Capitol Hill. Hands down the best B&B experience we have ever had.

05/5

EXCELLENT!

54321

Our stay was first class with the owners very attentive and amiable. Breakfast was great and the location is a 15 minute walk to Union Station or the Capitol Building. We stayed there for a week and I would recommend it to anyone. Regards, John

Washington Welcome!

54321

My experience was even better than description - this location is charming and bus or Metro convenient - felt completely comfortable and better value is not to be found in Washington, D.C. - perfect rest before my week of Wagner at the Kennedy Center - Thank you for your generous hospitality.

Constitution Place B & B 5 stars

54321

I give the Constitution Place B & B 5 stars. You get the feel of how ordinary people live in Washington D.C. while staying there. It is clean & comfortable and quite. I enjoyed my stay, last year, so much that when I got the chance go to Washington again this spring I choose to stay there a second time and if I get to go back next year I will stay there again. I have even recommended it to my friends. They chose to stay there this year and were very pleased with it.Constitution Place B & B is centrally located within walking distance of many of the places that people come to see in Washington: Capital, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Union Station and others.I found Barbara to be a gracious and considerate hostess. She is very helpful and has a good knowledge of D.C.I would recommend The Constitution Place B & B to anyone going to Washington D.C. that wants a relaxed atmosphere and good accommodations.
