10th & Otis Place NW

Our Home

The Otis Place Bed and Breakfast is located in the newly revived Columbia Heights Historic District, in the Northwest Washington DC area. Built in 1910, this Victorian townhouse was renovated in 2002/2003 yet features the original woodwork, hardwood floors, antique lighting fixtures, and working fireplaces.

Select from our two guest rooms: The Blue Room or the Mauve Room. Both feature a Queen-sized bed and private bath and are located on the second floor.

Make yourself at home in the first floor living room, which includes a comfortable sofa and chairs, working fireplace, original artwork, and a large front bay window allowing a flood of natural light. Guests are welcome to relax, read, and enjoy the fireplace or make use of the screened-in porch at the rear of the house in the warmer seasons.

The dining room features a decorative fireplace and a beautiful antique chandelier under a round dining table. The gourmet kitchen features granite countertops and tin ceilings.

Your Host

Your host is an attorney specializing in mediation. He also serves as an adjunct professor teaching negotiation, mediation, and dispute resolution with the George Washington University School of Law and the Keller Graduate School. He is very active in the community and the District of Columbia government.

Neighborhood/Getting Around

Located in the Upper Northwest neighborhood, our B&B is nestled among private residential homes and provides a relaxing retreat from downtown DC, but is still close to public transportation into DC for sightseeing and dining.

You have easy access to two metro stations within walking distance from the house, either the Georgia Avenue/Petworth station at a quarter of a mile away or the Columbia Heights station at half a mile. Both stations have the Green and Yellow lines, with direct rides to the Washington Convention Center, China Town, the National Mall and Smithsonian Museums.

Reservations and Arrivals

Rates are seasonal with spring and fall being peak seasons for our area and we have a two-night minimum for reservations.

We unfortunately are unable to accommodate our guests’ pets but do have our own master of feline relations in residence. Bo may make his presence known as he spends most afternoons in the living room front window soaking up the sun and watching the kids return from school. He is sure to try and convince you he is allowed to go out and play but he is limited to the screened-in porch for his outdoor excursions. For those with pet allergies, this may not be the best accommodation for you.
