The Green Retreat is a brand new apartment. The owner has renovated a classic Washington DC Victorian row house from the ground up in 2011-2012. A strong focus on energy efficiency and low environment impact were guiding principles throughout the renovation. This one bedroom apartment features radiant floor heating, low energy use LED lighting, modern, kitchen with energy efficient stainless appliances and a custom island with polished granite counter top. Centrally located in the Logan Circle neighborhood on a quiet tree lined block 4 blocks south of the hip U Street district. Visitors will enjoy Metro access 4 blocks from the house and a major bus line just on the corner. Access to the Convention Center is 10 minutes away, or the National Mall/Smithsonian's in 12 minutes.
The apartment is a 1 bedroom, ground floor unit. The bedroom is furnished with a queen sized bed featuring a "Tempur-Pedic" mattress. Heated hardwood floors, a writing desk and large closet with bureau. Bath access is in the hallway, finished with a stunning glass tiled shower. The front of the apartment is the open living room and kitchen. Heated hardwood floors are throughout. The sofa opens to a queen sized bed allowing the apartment to accommodate up to 4 guests. The kitchen includes upscale finishes, custom cabinets, stainless appliances, including a full sized stove/oven, energy efficient European refrigerator, dishwasher, and custom dining island with beautiful granite top. Wireless Internet is provided throughout the apartment. A LCD TV with cable and I-pod dock allow visitors to enjoy their own music and videos.
The apartment is located on a quiet one way street just north of Logan Circle, 13th and Corcoran Street. Logan Circle is one of the highest rated walking neighborhoods in DC. Visitors will find numerous family owned restaurants featuring many cuisines, 2 grocery stores including Whole Foods, 3 blocks, and Safeway, 4 blocks, as well as excellent Gelato at Pitango. Neighborhood restaurants include Birch & Barley with hundreds beers on tap or bottle, Logan Tavern, Stoney's, Posto and Rice. Other neighborhood amenities include CVS and Rite Aid pharmacies, health clubs, coffee shops and unique shopping. The neighborhood offers easy access to the Washington Convention Center, Smithsonian Museums, The White House, Dupont Circle as well as most of Washington's Universities.
The apartment requires a minimum of a 3 night stay. A 10% discount is offered for stays of 7 nights or more. Reserved off street garaged parking is available for a small or mid sized card, $20/nt. All bed and bath linens are provided. The kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils, china, flatware and glass ware for dining. The apartment is cleaned prior to your stay and after your departure. We do not charge a cleaning fee, but do expect the apartment is left picked up and tidy. Premium, front loading laundry facilities are available should you need them. Smoking is not permitted except in outside areas.
