      The Carriage House on Capitol Hill is a private home Bed and Breakfast located just south of the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress and National Mall. The home was built as new construction in 2003 & 2004 under the strict historic guidelines of the District’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. Visitors will appreciate the close proximity to the National Mall, where many of Washington’s major sights and monuments are located, including: the White House; Washington Monument; Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials;  and the WWII, Vietnam and Korean War Memorials as well as most of the Smithsonian's 15 locations. Other points of interest, easily accessible by foot or short Metro ride, include George Washington University, Georgetown, the offices of members of the House of Representatives (the Rayburn, O’Neil, Longfellow and Cannon Buildings), the U.S. Supreme Court and of course, the Capitol building itself.

Great Accommodations: 

     This home offers four guest rooms, all located on the second floor of the house and accessed by a grand spiral staircase. Each room is furnished with a queen-size bed and includes a private bath with large walk-in shower. Rooms include complimentary wireless Internet access, and TV with cable. A relaxed, continental style breakfast is available each morning from 7:30-9:30. Enjoy fresh coffee, select teas, local pastries, tasty cereals, seasonal fruit and a choice of juice. Guests are welcome to dine at the large kitchen island or - when the weather is right - in the private courtyard.

     All four guest rooms have the same amenities, so in order to best accommodate guests' varied schedules, we cannot guarantee a specific room. However, if staying in a particular room is important to you, we will make every effort to place you accordingly. Just please let us know of your preference when you make your reservation. 

     Your hosts are long-time residents of Washington, who together with their son, welcome visitors to their home. The family includes a cat named Mimi who also calls the house her home. Your hosts allow Mimi minimal access to the guest rooms, however those with allergies should consider whether this B&B is right for them. Regretfully, children cannot be accommodated at the Carriage House itself, however, just across the courtyard, a separate facility - "The Coach House" can. The Coach House is a self-contained, 2-story Town House with about 1000 sq. ft. of space including: 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, living/dining areas, kitchenette, and laundry facilities.
