Gracious home and hosts:
As a private home Bed and Breakfast, visitors are personal guests of the owners of the House, Charles and Jackie. The couple have owned this gracious home for 35 years, operating as Shipman House B&B for well over 25. Charles at one time clerked at the Supreme Court, and now works as an international corporate attorney. Jackie works in property management and revels in her two new grandchildren.

When they purchased their home in 1975, it might have been best described as a
diamond in the rough, having been used - as it was - as a rooming house for many years. Clearly, serious restoration work was needed on the 1887 structure, and they set about it with respect for the building's past, vigor for the job at hand and dreams for the lovely place it was to become. Today, guests can luxuriate in fine, modern amenities and still appreciate much of the home’s original brickwork, woodwork and stained glass. This property is also graced with a large yard (by city standards!), where Jackie makes her English garden, grape arbor, patio and covered porch all available for guests to enjoy.
